On the way to Compostela

On the way to Compostela

The Villa des Bordes greatly facilitates access to the Camino de Santiago in Cléry-Saint-André: you can begin or continue your pilgrimage on foot or by bike, in the heart of a route rich in heritage.

The GR® 655 (Tours Route) crosses Cléry-Saint-André, connecting Orléans to Meung-sur-Loire, with clear markings and GPX files available for GPS. Before reaching La Villa, pilgrims discover the Notre-Dame Basilica, a flamboyant Gothic jewel that houses the tomb of Louis XI and symbolizes the spiritual stage of the place.

From the hotel, join the marked GR® 655 trail just a few minutes' walk away. The route follows the banks of the Loire, crosses Meung-sur-Loire, and continues to Beaugency, offering a route of nearly 28 km between Orléans and Meung-sur-Loire. The diverse landscapes—meadows, forests, vineyards—make the walk authentic and invigorating.

Upon returning from your stopover, head to the restaurant at La Villa des Bordes. The chef offers refined regional cuisine based on local and seasonal produce: homemade foie gras, smoked duck breast, crème brûlée with chestnut honey. The peaceful setting and lush garden offer a well-deserved break, combining relaxation and indulgence.

For those who wish to extend the stage, Orléans or Meung-sur-Loire are accessible in a few kilometers, with accommodation, churches and rest stops, while the Château de Chambord, 30 minutes by car, is a beautiful complementary excursion. Each stage enriches the pilgrimage experience, between natural beauty and regional heritage.

With La Villa des Bordes as your starting point, your Camino de Santiago combines spirituality, heritage, and cozy comfort in our comfortable rooms. A total immersion in the heart of a living tradition, in complete serenity.
